Answers to reporters at Gyeonggyojang on April 2 regarding the comment of Military Governor William Dean
Q : On the 1st, the Military Governor said that he could not protect and arrange the inter-Korean conference, but what measures will be taken for the inter-Korean conference in the future? A : I am grateful that Governor Dean has stated that he will not interfere with the North-South talks we are attempting. For it is by this means that our preparation can proceed smoothly. It was not from any certain threats that we originally made the request for security and arrangements, but rather for the purpose of seeking the cooperation of both military commands of the U.S. and the Soviet Union, as our country is now under military occupation by the two countries, and it would be unlawful and unfriendly if we cross the parallel without their understanding. Now, if since the U.S. military authorities do not interfere with our work, as we believe so, minor issues will be settled amicably upon the commencement of the negotiation. Q : Have you dispatched a liaison? A : Not yet. |
