1947. 12. 22. Need an ideology for unification
As we celebrate Christmas, I pray that God's infinite love and holy favor will fill our fellow countrymen and the entire human race.

We must welcome the United Nations Commissioners with all our hearts and do our utmost to ensure that they have a just perception of us and that they fulfill their task of establishing a sovereign, independent and unified government of our choice.

We want a self-governing unified government and we will never accept a separate government under any circumstances. The mission of the UN Commissioners is to observe the national elections.

When we receive international honored guests, if we wish them to have a just perception of us, we must first express what we think and what we want as the unified will of our people.

Therefore, it was a proper work for the effort of the recent merger of two organizations that meets subjective demands as well as objective circumstances. Although the process may not have been completed due to external obstacles, the resolution to merge is still valid.

I hope that the work of reunification will be accomplished in a speedy manner. And it is congratulatory that the youth movement, which is the vanguard of our nation, will be united by the joint statement of Generals Lee Cheongcheon and Lee Beomseok. Our reunification will be sought only from a common guiding ideology, and it cannot be achieved by violence.

In this sense, it is natural to punish those who commit any kind of terror, whether on the right or left, and those who destroy. But it should be with deep vigilance to ensure that emotion does not transcend reason or law.
