1946. 6. 4. Objection to the separate government
Statement of the Korea Independence Party

The prolonged adjournment of the U.S.-Soviet Joint Commission has caused a great deal of consternation in the political world, and we share the disappointment of the Korean people as a whole, and we hope that the U.S.-Soviet Joint Commission will be resumed as soon as possible and that it will give active assistance to the establishment of an independent Provisional Government.

We, too, will endeavor to prevent the division of the country into left and right as in the past from having an international or domestic impact, and will exert our best capacities as a single nation to ensure that all Korean affairs are self-determined. At the same time, we hope that the U.S.-Soviet Joint Commission will proceed expeditiously in close cooperation with us and fully fulfill the obligations of the friendly allies to Korea.

The idea of establishing a separate government has been circulating in recent days, but our party is not in favor of it.

As long as the barrier of the 38th parallel is extended, it is a great obstacle to the reunification of the country, causing economic destruction and ethnic separation, and a great tragedy in history.

In the future, if this situation continues as it is, it will be impossible for the Korean nation to stand by for its survival.
