1946. 1. 1. Military government employees, return to work
Unfortunately, the Moscow Conference of Foreign Ministers has announced that our country will be under trusteeship in the future. I would like to express utmost respect for the orderly protest movement. I believe it is in opposition to trusteeship, not in opposition to the military government of the allies, or to disrupt the daily life of our countrymen. Reports from Washington today indicate that Mr. Byrnes, the Secretary of State, has said that there is a possibility that we do not have a trusteeship, and I hope so. But if it does come to pass, there will of course be another demonstration against it, and I think it proper to continue the work now and to try to repel it by peaceful means. Therefore, my countrymen will soon return to work and continue their work, and I call upon them to return to work at once, especially those who are employed in the military administration, and in the provinces to stop striking and return to work.
