1946. 1. 1. Straight march to gain sovereignty
On the occasion of the New Year, I would like to wish the nations under the United Nations and our 30 million people the best of luck.

The Provisional Government, which for the past 27 years has fought for the complete independence of our country from abroad under the stance of national unity and adherence to the principle of democracy, has stepped on the soil of homeland in order to achieve final victory hand-in-hand with domestic compatriots. If the Korean people, regardless of the left and right of thought and the north and south of the terrain, march straightly to the point of retrieving our sovereignty with confidence and courage, by struggling with unity, and through gathering all powers of our people, the allied powers, who have been fighting for human peace and the security of the world, may have to provide us the fullest aid and cooperation. It is our belief.

However, regardless of the outcome of the conference last December, a tragic news of trusteeship came to us unexpectedly. The news was delivered at the time we had a positive mood as a consensus reached out almost by conceding respective stance with the mind of patriotism and serving people; thus, the comrades were puzzled and deeply frustrated as they encountered the tragedy of all people again. However, when we combine the strength of the whole nation to correct the wrong perceptions of the allied countries, especially the U.S.-U.K.-Soviet Union, and show the capabilities of our nation, I am sure they will realize their mistake. I wish all the comrades to make double endeavors in the coming year.
