Q : Dr. Kim Kyusik has offered for the establishment of a Korean advisory group to the UN Commission on Korea, do you have any comments on this?
A : I think it is a constructive opinion for the peaceful reunification of North and South Korea. Q : How do you see the domestic political situation will evolve if the U.S. troops withdraw from the South? A : From a self-determination standpoint, efforts should be made to establish common principles for reunification as a national movement. Q : In your view, the reunification of the two Koreas can only be achieved through inter-Korean conference, but we have seen the failure of the conference between the government of Republic of China and the forces of the Chinese Communist Party in China, and according to foreign media, the failure was caused by the unilateral insistence of the Chinese Communist Party, so if inter-Korean negotiations are realized in Korea, do you think it will be in accordance with your opinion? A : China¡¯s national conference is a meeting of the victors and the vanquished, and that¡¯s the way it will be. It failed because it was held in the most unfavorable position and at the most inopportune time from the perspective of the government of Republic of China. When negotiating, the limits of compromise and concession should be determined based on the full measure of the tangible and intangible capabilities and skills. Negotiating with the North does not mean unconditional adherence to the Communist Party, and political negotiations require hard work, enthusiasm, strength, and persistence. Q : Given the current realities between the two Koreas, do you see the negotiations you hope for materializing? A : There must be an effort from both sides. Q : If the conference is held but it fails to make an agreement, what will you do thereafter? A : Let¡¯s see after that. Q : What is your opinion on the Korea-U.S. military pact? A : I will not oppose having it under the two prerequisites ? not to interfere with the sovereignty of an independent state and not to cause a civil war. Q : What are your impressions from this trip to other provinces? A : Wherever I went to, people explored that they could not live under the current situation. If someone sings a song of the wonderful world, he must be from a special class. |
