1948. 3. 31. Willing to go
Q : In your letter to North Korea, it says that you would convene a meeting of representatives of the patriotic parties of South Korea to appoint representatives before the inter-Korean Conference, and in the reply from North Korea, they have nominated 15 people. What is your opinion on this?

A : We didn¡¯t set the scope of the conference by naming anybody, it¡¯s them who nominated 15 people. We need to send a liaison first to find out. We need to send a liaison to communicate with each other.

Q : Shouldn¡¯t there be consultations with U.S. military authorities prior to inter-Korean negotiations?

A : Of course, there is a willingness to talk with the U.S. military authorities, and there should be an amicable compromise with them.

Q : Do you think the inter-Korean conference will succeed?

A : I¡¯m sure it will.

Q : Why do you think it will be successful?

A : The United States in the South and the Soviet Union in the North are all for the independence of Korea, and I believe that if there is such an international atmosphere, we will succeed.

Q : Are you willing to go to Pyongyang?

A : I¡¯m willing to go.

Q : What are the specifics of the inter-Korean talks?

A : There is no agreement on what will be done, only that the politicians of North and South Korea should meet once.
