1948. 3. 26. Prospectus of establishment of Unification and Independence Movement Association
Because, in relation to reunification and independence as a people¡¯s hope, there are not a few people who believe that independence can be achieved without reunification although independence cannot be achieve without reunification , we cannot help but call for reunification. It has already been two years since our homeland was bisected by the so-called 38th parallel and divided into North and South Korea, so is it too late or too new to call for reunification? If it is indeed late, it is because we trusted too much in the goodwill of the United States and the Soviet Union, and if it is new, it is because we cannot blindly follow the intent of the two countries. Up to this time, the division was only a military action by the United States and Soviet Union. When our countrymen could not freely cross the 38th parallel, but had not the slightest room in their hearts to tolerate the 38th parallel, now the United States and the Soviet Union have fixed the 38th parallel with their own plans dividing our brothers and sisters, and establishing two governments, one in the South and one in the North, this is to turn a division of force into a division of volition, a division of external force into a division of internal force, and to engrave the 38th parallel on our intestines and in our bones. But that¡¯s not all, what will follow the division is a fratricidal war, and this is nothing but a threat to the survival of our nation!

Now that the U.S.-Soviet Joint Commission has failed for two years in a row, and the United Nations Commission on Korea is covertly about to take harmful actions on the contrary to the mission to help us, , we have no other way but to combine the political capacities of the entire nation and demand the right to national survival to the world and the right to national self-determination against the U.S.-Soviet Union. In order to combine the political capacities of the people, it is necessary to develop a national movement quickly, and in order to develop a national movement, it is necessary to re-organize the national camp, but since it is not easy to re-organize it, we first establish the Unification and Independence Movement Association. The work is heavy and the people are light, but we only strive for our people. Comrades! Let¡¯s get together and make a plan to organize the camp, and then work to fulfill the wishes of the people!
