I was unable to attend the opening ceremony of the fourth batch due to illness. After I was better, I had to go in and testify at a U.S. court-martial on my first visit. At that time, it occurred to me as follows. Kim Gu, who had been struggling for the independence of his country abroad for decades, returned to his homeland without achieving this goal, so he deserved to be scolded in front of 30 million compatriots, but on the contrary, he was living a more complacent life than when he was living in exile abroad and receiving undeserved treatment from his compatriots at home, so I thought that it was God¡¯s way of rebuking and disciplining him, and I felt very sorry in my heart that I had to go to the U.S. military tribunal and taste once again the punishment that I had suffered in the past in the court of the enemy.
So when I came out of the U.S. military court, I went straight to the graveyard of the three patriots in Hyochangwon, and prayed and confessed before the spirit of patriotic martyrs, and when I stopped at the training camp on my way back, I saw that you had your fingers stuck up, and I thought it was strange, but later I found out that about fifty of you had cut your fingers and wrote a letter in blood and were on the way to the military court with the letter to file an appeal for injustice imposed on me. I feel at this moment that the accomplishments of discipline during the past year under the direction of the teaching have been truly excellent, and I express to you my infinite satisfaction and gratitude for your fiery patriotic zeal. At this moment, I realized that your training with the faculty members made during the last one year was indeed successful and at the same time I expressed to you my satisfaction and gratitude for your burning passion of patriotism. Gentlemen! Our country is in crisis. A true patriot must rise up and save the country. Since the Korean issue had failed in the U.S.-Soviet mission and had been transferred to the United Nations, where it was decided 43 to 0 that a Korean commission would be dispatched on January 8, I dragged my old body to Gimpo Airport to welcome them with open arms. When the Marshall Plan was first submitted to the UN General Assembly, I, along with all my compatriots, went out to the Seoul Stadium and sang a throaty hoorah in support of the Marshall Plan, and shouted at the top of my lungs for the withdrawal of the U.S. and Soviet troops, the removal of the 38th parallel, and the establishment of a unified sovereign government of North and South Korea, and when the UN commissioners were welcomed, I also went out to the Seoul Stadium and welcomed them with all my heart. Dr. Menon also came to me and said that he had come to implement the requests of the 30 million Koreans' prayers for a general election for the reunification of the North and the South of Korea, the removal of the 38th parallel, the inter-Korean talks, the establishment of a unified independent government without interference in internal affairs and trusteeship, and the withdrawal of the U.S. and Soviet troops, so I shook hands with him in gratitude. . However, the UN Commission later told that the Soviet Union had ¡®boycotted¡¯ the election, and as a result of commissioners Dr. Menon and Hoo Chi-Tsai¡¯s report and discussion of the situation in Korea, the it was resolved to recommend that general elections be held only in those areas where they were possible, and Dr. Menon and Hoo Chi-Tsai were instructed to return to Seoul with this recommendation. It is said that a great crowd assembled at Gimpo Airport to welcome them. When I heard this, I wondered if those people were desperate for welcome, and would they welcome them day and night, even if they gave them a whole ricecake, they would welcome them, even if they gave them a half ricecake, they would welcome them, or even if they gave them slavery instead of independence, they would welcome them, if they told them to die, they would welcome them, and so on. I could not understand what was going on. We have 4.5 million compatriots who have crossed over from the North, and my heart is bitter and sore for not being able to save them. However, as a northern Korean, I will do everything in my power to save these northern Korean compatriots, and I will absolutely oppose the declaration of the separate government of South Korea, putting exclusive of leaders and compatriots in the North. Removal of the 38th parallel and reunifying the two Koreas is my consistent insistence. When people come to me and ask me what strategy I have in order to make them come true, I answer for it, I am not yet able to show you any magical method, these are only ¡®Must Dos¡¯ from my conscience. I wonder if anyone of you have read the Doctrine of the Mean, but and there is a saying Yunjibgweoljung(ëÃòûÏðñé, be unbiased and centered) and Taekseongojip(÷Éà¼Í³òû, choose the goodness and hold it firmly.) which means that justice will always have the last word. Those who want to give up the North and establish a half government say that the idea of a unified government of the North and South is a dream or just idealism, but although Christians have never been to heaven nor seen Jesus with their eyes, they believe that they could go to heaven if they pray to God in the name of Jesus and do his will. We are convinced by five thousand years of history that our nation is an independent country and a free people, and our claim is not just a dream but a consistent creed of 30 million compatriots and a categorical imperative of our nation. Those who advocate a divided government say they will hold elections to establish a government in the South and raise an army to march into the North, which is a dangerous idea. The 4.5 million Koreans who have crossed over to the South have parents, wives, children, and relatives still in North Korea. When those people come in from the South with guns and when the North Korean communists will first force these people to stand at the 38th parallel and march into the South, will we shoot and stab our grandfathers, fathers, mothers and our siblings with guns and knives? Is this the way of Koreans from the North? Will the conscience of the nation allow it? Think about the identity of those who promote the tragedy of wars within the nation and the extinction of the Korean people. What attitude should our 30 million compatriots take at this time? The UN Commission¡¯s decision is contrary to the resolution passed by the UN General Assembly to establish a sovereign independent government without trusteeship, division and the 38th parallel and a half-government, half-election with only four votes among the nine countries represented on the UN Commission is not legally untenable. But the representatives of the four countries - China, the Philippines, India and El Salvador - have taken the UN¡¯S word for it as:, 1) This is an attempt to implement a one-country trusteeship; 2) an attempt to internationally legitimize the arbitrarily drawn 38th parallel by the U.S. and the Soviet Union; and 3) by bisecting our national territory, it is nothing but dividing our people and causing the tragedy of the fratricidal war. Therefore, we, the 30 million Koreans, must rise up to oppose the separate government and separate election in the South and strongly demand that the Korean issue be reverted back to the UN General Assembly. Our way out is blocked by high and steep mountains, but great justice will have its final victory. March 20, the 30th year of the Republic of Korea |
