| As we commemorate the third year after the Independence Movement Day of March 1, a kind of depressing low pressure covers throughout the nation that can only lead to frustration and disappointment. Just as the currents heading for the sea can only move forward, the wheel of history cannot roll backward. Therefore, even though our objective situation today is showing a depressing low pressure, it is only solid because there will be no insurmountable situation and no frustrating difficulties in the future of Koreans who are striving while safeguarding the March 1 spirit that will remain holy eternally. Recently, the U.S. State Department summoned Lieutenant General Hodge to Washington to examine our problems more carefully, which is an expression of favor. The United States is not alone in favoring us. All of our allies may do so. We should also send our representatives to the Soviet Union. Then the Korean problem can be brought to the way to a just resolution. We should celebrate this day with one heart and one mind. Let us resolve to work together more vigorously for the consummation of our national independence. |
