1947. 9. 2. Objection to the nationwide general elections
The U.S. proposal to hold nationwide general elections under international observation to form a legislative assembly is one that lovers of justice and peace around the world would absolutely support.

We are confident that it will be realized. I have been opposed to the theory of a separate government, and I believe that this theory will be naturally extinguished by the new proposal of the United States. Therefore, at the present time, South¡¯s general election, which is leading to the establishment of the separate government in South Korea, must be stopped.

The National Assembly, the successor of the Provisional Assembly of the Republic of Korea, which has struggled without distinction between the North and the South, should be its own legislative body.
